FO Friday: SaltPixie Studio Rolags

The yarn is done! This is my first yarn spun on the WooLee Winder, and also the first time I really pushed the bobbin size on my new wheel. (Okay, fine, you can see from the photo below that I wasn't actually pushing limits or anything. I just got nervous because this was so much… Continue reading FO Friday: SaltPixie Studio Rolags

SPSFC Book Review: Dark Theory (Wick Welker)

I really enjoyed the set-up for this book. The galaxy is dying, and our POV characters have to decide what that means to them and what they can do about it... or if they want to. Beetro the self-aware robot is trying to remember his past, while Miree the thief is trying to run from hers. Throw in Ribcage the plucky street orphan who can Jump between dimensions in order to appear to teleport, and the set-up for this book caught my eye right away.

WIP Wednesday ~ Thoughts on the WooLee Winder

Today, instead of discussing specific craft projects, I want to talk about spinning with the WooLee Winder. As a quick tool recap: this is my experience with the WooLee Winder flyer and bobbin I bought to go with my Hansen miniSpinner. I used both the official bobbin that came with the flyer, as well as… Continue reading WIP Wednesday ~ Thoughts on the WooLee Winder

Top Ten Tuesday ~ My Physical Unread TBR Shelf

There are so many unread books on my shelves. I picked these at random from the books on my physical shelf waiting to be read. Hopefully I'll read at least a couple of them soon, but... well. We'll see how well that goes, I guess.

Plans for Wyrd & Wonder 2024

Wyrd and Wonder 2024 starts in about a week and a half, so it makes sense that now is a decent time for me to start planning what I'm going to read for it. Okay... for me to officially start planning what I'm going to read for it. I've been making tentative plans since the… Continue reading Plans for Wyrd & Wonder 2024

Top Ten Tuesday ~ Come Sail Away

Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With: Pretend you’re going on vacation and can bring 10 of your closest friends with you. Pick your vacation spot and tell us who you’d like to bring! I like going on cruises, so I'm picking a bunch of characters who I think it would be fun to cruise with. Cruise where, you ask? That part doesn't matter so much. I just like being on the ship! (Okay, the destinations can be fun too. But the ship is usually the best part.)

Author Spotlight ~ Terry Pratchett

According to The StoryGraph, Terry Pratchett is my 9th most-read author, and the only male author to make my top ten most-read author list. While he is sadly no longer with us (GNU Terry Pratchett) I still have many more books of his that I've yet to read, so I'll be enjoying his work for many years to come yet. (And then there will be rereads. Because the Discworld books are cozy reread material.)

Hugo Award Finalists 2024

The Hugo Award finalist list for 2024 has been announced! I haven't decided whether or not to get a membership this year, so I don't yet know if I will be voting in this year's awards. I will quite likely wait a while to decided, and base it partly off of how may of the… Continue reading Hugo Award Finalists 2024

Book tag: reading firsts — 2024 edition!

Let's do a random Tag Thursday! I know I've seen this tag on several blogs before, but I know for sure Louise at Foxes and Fairy Tales did this tag recently. While she didn't tag me specifically, I decided it looked like fun so I'm going to play along. The tag was originally created by… Continue reading Book tag: reading firsts — 2024 edition!
